Using Myxyr Cast
Myxyr Cast uses Wifi for sending the audio to your Live Ears. This makes it an extremely easy and yet reliable in-ear monitoring system.
Every receiver gets his own audio stream: his personal mix of the assigned audio channels.
Myxyr Cast simply follows the channel settings as designated on each Myxyr Ear.
Usage of Myxyr is not confined to usage on stage. For musicians or bands it is an excellent way to keep your practice studio quiet, as long as you have electronic drums and the guitar players do not insist on blowing their artwork through speakers.
In a recording studio it is surely the easiest way to keep your microphone track clean.
Myxyr adapts the WLAN interface of your computer or laptop to act as an access point for the mobile devices running Live Ear. This is a standard supported function on Windows 7, 8 or 10. Windows Vista or XP won't do.
The current VST plugin implementation requires practically no configuration. Your preparation is to set your DAW up for proper live mixing or for a live recording, see our Live Mixing Checklist. The Myxyr VST Plugin can then be assigned to the tracks your musicians need to hear.
Relevant to Myxyr is that your DAW has all audio channels available
- Give each track a correct descriptive name,
- If you do not have an electronic drum kit, merge any of such multi-mic sets together in a group and adjust the relative volumes and filters to have a nice stereo track.
- Adjust all incoming channels at the source ( gain or pre-amp) to practically equal volumes.
Assigning the channels to Myxyr Cast
- Activate the Myxyr VST to the input processing of each track that you want to have available for streaming.
- The settings per track are very simple: verify that the Myxyr VST gets the correct name per track.
- Click the right-bottom system-tray icon to activate the main Myxyr window.
It may be necessary to activate recording-stand-by on the group tracks too, if otherwise Myxyr VST won't get audio passed in. Actually starting the recording is not necessary, but still possible.
The Myxyr Cast VST Plugin does not do anything to the sound passing through so your recording or live mixing won't be influenced.
Activating the Myxyr WLan

After all input channels are assigned, start the dedicated Myxyr Wi-Fi network.
Click the WLAN tab of the Myxyr Cast window.
Click the green button to Activate the network.
Note, this will turn off your regular Wi-Fi connection.
Windows requires admin permissions to modify the system network setting. Windows will now ask you for permission to do this modification. You need to click 'Yes' to continue.
Once the Myxyr Wi-Fi network has been started, the window will display the SSID. The WPA2 key is visible when moving the mouseover the SSID.
Connecting the Live Ears
Gather all mobiles to use.
On each device, one by one connect to the Myxyr Wi-Fi network and start Myxyr Ear as described here.
Each mobile receiver that is connected, will become visible as an output in the main Myxyr Cast window.
Zero configuration
This concludes the Myxyr Cast setup. All sound adjusting can be done from Myxyr Ear.
Do not forget to save your project in the DAW.
If the Myxyr network is active when closing your DAW, Myxyr will issue an admin command to reset the Wi-Fi to the regular mode. You need to approve this again, for re-activating your regular Wi-Fi connection.
